Griffin joined Stevenage from Salisbury in May

Charlie Griffin scored a hat-trick as Stevenage eased past struggling Hayes & Yeading to climb up to second spot in the Blue Square Premier table.

Griffin opened the scoring on 17 minutes, running on to a long ball and finishing past keeper Simon Overland.

He poked in his second from Yemi Odubade's cross and completed his treble from the spot after Overland brought down Odubade inside the box.

Michael Bostwick's effort from the edge of the box finished the rout.

Stevenage, who have not lost in 10 games, trail league-leaders Oxford by nine points but have a game in hand.
