Oxford Utd 5-0 Grays

Highlights - Oxford United 5-0 Grays

Oxford stretched their lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier to nine points with a thumping win over Grays.

James Constable opened the scoring with a header and doubled the lead by rolling the ball into an empty net.

Jamie Cook finished Constable's cross for the third, with Jack Midson netting the fourth from close range.

Midson scored the fifth from the spot after being fouled by keeper Preston Edwards, who was sent off after being shown a second yellow card.

After scoring his 10th and 11th goals of the season in the first half, Constable was withdrawn from the action just before the break to protect a knock he picked up early in the game.

United's winning margin could have been larger had Matt Green not been ruled offside after putting the ball in the back of the net in the opening moments.

But Grays may feel aggrieved that Green was not penalised for his challenge on Edwards in the build up to Oxford's second goal, with Edwards seeing his first yellow card for his protests.

Oxford's lead at the top is now nine points from Kettering and Stevenage, who both have a game in hand.

Grays manager Julian Dicks told BBC Essex:

"They were the better side but by five goals? I don't think so.

"I thought the referee was a disgrace, I just can't understand how he's made his decisions.

"If he makes the right decisions then it keeps it to a respectable scoreline."
