Woking manager Graham Baker has handed striker Wilfried Domoraud another chance to impress.
The 21-year-old rejected new terms when Woking were relegated last season, but has not managed to find another club.
Baker told BBC Surrey: "[He was] probably advised wrongly at that stage, he rang out of the blue this week.
"He's a long way from being the finished article. But in the cold light of day, is he as good as or better than we have in the squad? I'd say yes."
Baker admits it was not an easy decision to take last season's top scorer, who hit eight goals, back.
He played every game last season. That wasn't right

"It was a situation I had to think about it," he said. "He obviously hasn't had any football since last season, but he's kept himself fit with a personal trainer.
"We'll see how both parties work it out. That's down to Wilf and his performances, and where he wants to go with his career."
Baker thinks Woking actually over-played Domoraud last season.
"He had a good period up until January," he said. "But then as a young lad he should have come out of the team, but he had to play every game.
"That wasn't right for a 19-year old, and to have the responsibility on his shoulders to win games for his team wasn't right and I can see that.
"If he was maybe better developed last year, maybe his mind would have been in a different place."
