Unbeaten league leaders Oxford rode their luck to beat AFC Wimbledon thanks to an own goal and a saved penalty.
United took the lead in the second half when Jay Conroy redirected Damian Batt's cross into his own net.
The Dons had a chance to level after Batt brought down Paul Lorraine in the box but Danny Kedwell saw his penalty well saved by Ryan Clarke.
United were under intense pressure at the end and Ricky Wellard should have equalised but headed at Clarke.
