Grays 1-3 Kidderminster

Dean Bennett
Bennett opened the scoring for Mark Yates' side

Kidderminster Harriers eased past Grays to record their first away league victory of the season.

Dean Bennett's close-range shot gave Mark Yates' side an early lead and Brian Smikle fired in the visitors' second midway through the first half.

Grays responded after the break when Daniel Charge's 18-yard shot beat Harriers keeper Dean Coleman.

But Harriers sealed a deserved win in injury-time thanks to David McDermott's close-range effort.

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"The players worked their socks off, first half we should have been out of sight.

"We fancied our chances, and I asked for a performance like we got in the last game.

"Second half the early goal rocked but they didn't create too many chances, but there is still plenty for us to learn and get better at."

Grays Athletic manager Gary Phillips told BBC Essex:

"I think all three goals we conceded were poor."

"It shows we are still a work-in-progress. We've got lots to do."

"Kidderminster were stronger, fitter and more resilient than us."
