Salisbury 0-1 Mansfield

Kyle Perry
Perry has now scored three goals in as many games for the Stags

Kyle Perry grabbed his third goal this season as Mansfield Town saw off early Blue Square Premier leaders Salisbury.

Perry crashed in the winner via the underside of the bar after home keeper James Bittner made a fine double save.

Away keeper Alan Marriott made three decent early stops from Matthew Tubbs, who also missed a glorious late chance.

But the Stags created the better chances with the superb Bittner denying Perry on several occasions, before Perry's cool second-half winner.

Salisbury manager Tommy Widdrington told BBC Wiltshire:

"We have to take it on the chin. We were going to get beaten at some stage this season but I don't think Mansfield did enough to win the game.

"We really took the game to Mansfield and with the number of good situations we created we were a bit unfortunate not to go ahead.

"I'm delighted with the way the boys tried to keep at it."

Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"I'm delighted. We made a lot of great chances and their goalkeeper was man of the match.

"If I'm going to be critical then we should have taken our chances but we defended well.

"But we've take the points and I think we deserved them."
