Wivenhoe part company with Dicks

Wivenhoe Town have announced that manager Julian Dicks has left the club by mutual consent.

The former West Ham and Liverpool full-back took over the Ridgeons League club in January, helping them maintain their Premier Division status.

"I had a backer ready to come in with some money but in order to do that we wanted to buy the leasehold to the ground," Dicks told BBC Essex.

"But the trust who own the lease do not want to do that."

Dicks is now back in Spain but was prepared to move his family to England if his future at Wivenhoe had been secured.

"I had a backer willing to put in £50,000 but no-one will put their money into a club without some security.

"I wasn't getting paid but would have moved over if something was sorted out," said Dicks.

"This hasn't put me off management and I hope someone else will give me a chance."

A Wivenhoe club spokesman said: "We feel a great chance has been lost but would like to thank Julian and his family for their efforts and support."
