Buckle in determined mood for final

Torquay United manager Paul Buckle has said Sunday's Blue Square Premier play-off final against Cambridge is the most important match of his life.

"It's the definitely the biggest game of my career," he told BBC Spotlight.

"Promotion is everything when you are a player, coach or manager; it's what you aim for at the start of the season."

The Gulls are now just one step away from reclaiming a place in the top four tiers of the Football League, from where they left two years ago.

Buckle has previously experienced the atmosphere of a Wembley final as both player and coach and knows performance comes second to the result.

"We must go there to win," he said. "We have to block out the atmosphere really, block out the fact that we're playing at the national stadium."

And if they do win on Sunday, the significance of taking Torquay back into League Two is something Buckle is extremely aware of.

"It'll mean the world," he added. "It's what I work hard for every day and the last 20 months at this club have been out of this world."
