Pilgrims facing last-day decider

Steve Welsh is looking for a reaction from his players

Boston United go into the last day of the Unibond League Premier Division season knowing they still might need a result to be sure of safety.

The Pilgrims lost 5-0 at Nantwich in the league on Tuesday night.

The decision by the league to demote Cammell Laird, who Boston play on the final day, is subject to an appeal so United cannot be sure they are safe.

Boston manager Steve Welsh told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We've got to look after ourselves - we know that."

If Boston finish in the bottom four they will then face a nervous wait until Cammell's appeal is heard by the Football Association.

Cammell have failed a ground grading and are being demoted, meaning only the bottom three will be relegated.

That makes Boston technically safe, but Welsh wants Boston to get the result which keeps them out of the bottom four should an appeal overturn the Cammell demotion.

"Come Saturday we need some sort of reaction because if we don't get a reaction then the players are going to find themselves in a very, very uncomfortable position," he said.
