Weymouth 1-2 York

Weymouth were relegated from the Blue Square Premier on a night when York City sealed their own safety.

Bobby Gould's young Terras gave another spirited display at the Wessex Stadium.

And there was hope of a miracle when, after surviving a first-half battering, Cliff Akurang levelled Richard Brodie's early opener in first-half injury time.

But Adam Boyes' winner 13 minutes from time earned FA Trophy finalists York their third straight win to ensure that they and Barrow both stay up.

Having managed just one point in 15 games since their mid-season financial troubles, that was enough to finally sentence Weymouth to the Blue Square South.

They go down along with Woking, Northwich Victoria and Lewes.

York City boss Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York:

"We go home happy but there's still a lot of work to be done.

"I feel I've aged five years in the four months we've been here.

"I'm a bit disappointed we didn't score four or five. And that made it a bit nervy.

"When you're in a relegation dogfight things don't go for you. Once you get into the mire confidence is low. But that's when your better players show character."
