Bay win keeps Wembley dream alive

Ian Chandler
Chandler hopes his players can make amends for last year's collapse

Whitley Bay's hopes of a Wembley appearance remain healthy after a 2-1 win in the first leg of Saturday's FA Vase semi-final against Lowestoft Town.

Second-half goals from strike duo Paul Chow and Lee Kerr were enough to win the match, despite a consolation from Town midfielder Jamie Godbold.

There was a red card for Lowestoft defender Carl Poppy for a thigh-high challenge on Bay striker Adam Johnston.

The second leg of the semi-final takes place at Crown Meadow on Saturday.
