Lynn players agree wage deferral

King's Lynn's players have agreed to defer 30% of their wages while the club searches for investment.

The withdrawal of director Michael Chinn earlier in the season has left the club with a financial shortfall.

Left-back Ben Chapman and winger Joe Francis decided to leave the club after a team meeting to discuss the problems.

Manager Keith Webb, his assistant Lee Glover and the remaining players have all agreed to defer almost a third of their wages for the time being.

Linnets midfielder Andy Johnson told BBC Radio Norfolk the squad had talked through the board's request before agreeing to it.

"The feel was, we didn't mind that as long as we keep the squad together," he said.

"We discussed it as players, as fathers with bills to pay, obviously it's not ideal and it was said then that if anybody was going to leave there would be no ill-feeling."

Lynn are currently 12th in Blue Square North in their first season at Conference level.

The club has released a statement assuring supporters that potential new investors are being actively pursued.
