Stevenage 4-0 Burton

Cole celebration
Mitchell Cole and Steve Morison celebrate

Stevenage Borough moved into the last eight of the FA Trophy with an impressive victory over Blue Square Premier leaders Burton Albion.

Two goals from Steve Morison and a goal apiece for Mitchell Cole and David Bridges ensured the victory.

Stevenage manager Grahham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Fantastic credit to the players, they tried to work the ball despite the conditions.

"We put some fantastic forward movements together and opened them up."

Stevenage had to wait until the 31st minute to take the lead after largely dominating, when Morison converted Cole's cross.

Burton piled on the pressure after the goal and twice hit the woodwork through Marc Goodfellow and Sean Harrod, but Stevenage turned the heat on after half-time and Burton simply had no answer.

Cole doubled the lead with a low driven shot, before sending Morison clear to slip the ball past Kevin Poole with ease.

Bridges completed the rout in the last minute with a superb finish from the edge of the area.

Westley added: "The players are really working hard to be in the shape they are in and have the unity they are showing.

"There is a good pattern to what we are doing and physically we are in good order.

"It's a good time for us, there is no doubt about that, and we feel we can get better. The key for us is to make sure that we do."
