Edwards frustrated to be cup-tied

AFC Telford United midfielder Danny Edwards is disappointed to be cup-tied for the FA Trophy trip to Kettering.

"It's just a bit frustrating," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "You play a few games in a row and you get into the team and then a cup game comes up."

Edwards, who had appeared for Redditch United earlier in the competition, admitted: "I tried to make the move before I was cup tied."

Edwards has impressed in his last two games against Fleetwood and Solihull.

The left-sided midfielder signed for Telford in December, but it is only in the last few games that he has won a place in the starting XI at the expense of Lee Moore.

"You have to keep your fitness up," he said. "Hopefully the gaffer will keep faith in me again."

Telford are without another cup-tied midfielder Phil Trainer, who is also unavailable after playing for Oxford earlier in the competition.

Telford also have injury problems, without their two top scorers, 16-goal Terry Fearns and 15-goal Andy Brown.

Brown's Achilles again keeps him sidelined, while Fearns (groin) is also both set to miss out whilst midfielders Liam Blakeman and Jon Adams picked up knocks in the win at Solihull on Tuesday night.

The Bucks will be meeting Kettering for the second time in 10 days, having beaten them 3-2 in an ill-tempered Setanta Shield northern semi-final at the Bucks Head.

You can hear full match coverage of Kettering v Telford on BBC Radio Shropshire 96 fm (from 1200 GMT).
