Kent football results and summary

Non League

Dover Athletic have moved three points nearer promotion to Conference South with a 3-0 win over Kent neighbours Maidstone.

Frannie Collin scored once in each half and Shaun Welford added the third with nine minutes to go.

Ramsgate won the Thanet derby, 2-0 over Margate with spectacular goals from Stefan Ball and Jay May.

Ashford Town, Sittingbourne and Chatham Town also won Kent derbies. Other winners were Tonbridge and Dartford.

Dover maintained their 100 per cent home record with their 11th win in 11 games on their own patch but manager Andy Hessenthaler felt the 3-0 scoreline flattered his side.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "You have to give Maidstone credit. They were more than a match for us. If we had not had that little bit of luck it could have been different."

It means Dover remain 17 points clear at the top of the table.

Ramsgate moved level on points with Margate near the bottom of the Ryman Premier Division after beating them 2-0 in the Kent derby.

Manager Jim Ward said the two goals were amongst their best of the season.

"I watched the television yesterday and I didn't see any better goals than that.

"The one from Stefan Ball, 25 yards against the wind, top corner, and May, 25 yards with the wind, top corner. They're cock-a-hoop."

Dartford striker Cody McDonald scored a hat-trick in their 3-2 win over Canvey Island.

Their fifth victory in six games puts them into the top half of the table for the first time since October.

In Ryman South, Cray Wanderers missed the chance to top the table as they were beaten 4-2 by leaders Kingstonian.

Ashford's 1-0 win over Folkestone was their sixth in a row, and Sittingbourne extended their unbeaten run to six games with a 3-0 victory at home to Whitstable which lifts them into the play-off zone.

Hythe Town beat Norton Sports 4-1 to remain five points clear at the top of the Kent League.

Faversham Town ended Herne Bay's nine-match winning streak by thrashing them 5-1.

On Boxing Day, Welling United took the local bragging rights by beating Bromley 3-1.

Bromley took a first-half lead through Warren McBean, but Charlie Sheringham, Tony Sinclair and Moses Ademola struck after the break.

Welling manager Andy Ford told BBC Radio Kent: "We showed a lot of character. We need to get into that play-off position."

Bromley keeper Gareth Williams added: "Second half we came out and thought we had done enough."

"First half we were great. Every week now we are saying it's because we are not experienced, but it's not good enough."

Welling are now sixth, level on points with the bottom play-off place. Bromley remain 11th.
