Telford striker Simon Forsdick is set to have a scan on the mystery knee injury that saw the player sidelined for last season's play-offs campaign.
"We thought that my medial ligaments were torn," the 25-year-old told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"But over the summer maybe the scar tissues have built up - or maybe it's something worse.
"I need a scan to get it checked out, and hopefully that will give me the all-clear."
Manager Rob Smith added: "We don't think it's too serious. I expect Fozzy to be back with us pretty quickly."
Forsdick had to sit out Telford's run to the Conference North play-offs last season because of his injury - and has also missed the start of the Bucks' pre-season programme this time round.
"It's so frustrating. I wanted to kick off with the lads fully fit, but unfortunately I'm on the sidelines again," Forsdick continued.
"I'll have to step it up ahead of the season. There's a strong squad here and I want to be part of it."
