Weston-super-Mare have announced the appointment of Andy Gurney as assistant manager to Tony Ricketts, following their reprieve from relegation.
The 34-year-old utility man was one of five players recently released by new Newport County boss Dean Holdsworth.
The former Swindon, Swansea, Reading, and Bristol Rovers man has already had two spells with Weston as a player.
Gurney played in Wales for four months, and helped Newport to victory in the FAW Premier Cup against Llanelli.
Cambridge City's unsuccessful appeal against their enforced demotion last week means Weston will play in Blue Square South again next season, despite finishing in the relegation zone.
