Team Bath promoted after play-off

Team Bath clinched promotion to the Blue Square South with a 2-1 victory over Halesowen Town in the Southern League Premier play-off final.

The University of Bath side took the lead early in the second half thanks to Matt Cooper, playing his first game of the season after a knee injury.

Dean Brennan equalised from the penalty spot for Halesowen on 58 minutes, after Eldon Maquemba fouled by Gary Warren.

But Sean Canham hit the winner for Team Bath with a minute left on the clock.

It was striker Canham's 41st goal of the season, and his 36th in the league.

Halesowen's Dean Brennan was sent off by referee Ian Crouch after the final whistle.

It was second time lucky for Team Bath, who had finished as runners-up in the Southern League Premier for the second year in a row.

Last season they were beaten by Maidenhead United in the play-off final at Twerton Park.
