John Brayford's brace helped third-placed Burton to a comfortable win over promotion rivals Stevenage.
Daryl Clare had a first-half goal ruled out for a foul but after the break, Brayford headed Burton in front after keeper Clark Masters fumbled the ball.
Clare converted a penalty after he tangled with Ashley Westwood before Brayford poached his second late on after Clare's shot came off the post.
Defeat means Stevenage stay sixth, ahead of Exeter on goal difference.
