Unibond First Division North side Newcastle Blue Star could have made footballing history after scoring twice in the first 47 seconds of a game.
Lee Novak and David McTiernan scored their goals on 17 and 47 seconds respectively in the club's 3-0 win against Bamber Bridge on Wednesday.
"It's caused a lot of interest," club secretary Jim Anderson told BBC Sport.
"We're just waiting for confirmation from the Football Association and the Guinness Book of Records."
Anderson was also keen to point out the competitive aspect of the fixture and the significance to the record this may have.
GOAL CRAZY
The world's fastest goal was scored by Marc Burrows after two seconds for Cowes Sports FC in April 2004
Turkey striker Hakan Sukur holds the record for the fastest goal in the World Cup proper - scoring after 11 seconds against Korea at the 2002 tournament
Tommy Lawton holds the record for the fastest England goal - he scored against Portugal after just 17 seconds in May 1947
"It took place in the Unibond First Division North which is a nationally recognised competition," he said.
"Also the game was between two full-strength sides with something to play for. They are chasing promotion and we're playing for pride."
FA historian David Barber told BBC Radio Newcastle there is no category for such an achievement but admitted he has never heard of two goals scored so quickly.
Barber believes he has personally viewed 5,499 games and has never seen this occur previously.
