Dismissals were harsh - Hippolyte

Maidenhead United manager Johnson Hippolyte believes he and midfielder Darti Brown were unlucky to be sent off in the 0-0 draw with Lewes on Saturday.

The pair were both sent off just before half-time - Brown for a bad challenge, and Johnson for encroachment.

"I thought Darti Brown was harshly dealt with and I was as well," he said.

"Darti made a challenge with two of their players. I thought it was one of those challenges where all three should have been booked, or none of them."

He added: "Darti was on the floor and they were all surrounding him. I could see something might have happened, so I stepped on the pitch and stopped it before anything did happen.

"I was sent off for encroaching onto the pitch, which I thought was very poor, but such is life. I've only been sent off once before in my career, which isn't bad in seven years of management."

Hippolyte believed his team had done enough to beat Lewes who are four points clear at the top of Blue Square South.

"Jokingly we'd said they have a great away record and we have a poor record so we thought it would be three or four nil, but we played ever so well.

"We were disappointed we didn't win it and that sums up the second-half display. We had four great chances, so really it is two points dropped.

"But with 10 men for 45 minutes, I suppose you'd take the point against the league leaders."
