Barnet made a superb start to the season with a well-earned victory against ambitious Telford.
Telford made a bright start to the game as striker Lee Mills went close in the first five minutes.
The former Coventry player, who cost Portsmouth #1million when he moved from Bradford three years ago, fired over the crossbar from 20 yards.
Bees marksman Ben Strevens blocked a shot from Scott Eustace as the visitors turned the screw.
But Strevens, booked at the start of the second half for a foul on Scott
Green, put Martin Allen's men ahead after 49 minutes. Mark Mooney played a great through-ball from inside his own half and Strevens fired home from outside the area with his left foot.
The visitors searched for an equaliser but Barnet always looked more likely to score again as Strevens went close with a shot which was saved by Chris MacKenzie.
The Telford goalkeeper was called into action 16 minutes from time as Mark Mooney's header from a Tony Taggart cross was brilliantly saved.
But the Bees clinched the points after 78 minutes when Scott Eustace steered the ball into his own net.
Danny Williams nearly reduced the arrears for Telford but his strike was well blocked by goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt.
