Champions Yeovil showed no signs of a hangover from last week's
promotion-clinching victory over Doncaster as they ran riot at home to Burton
Albion.
Kevin Gall's four-goal haul and strikes from Gavin Williams and Chris Giles
accounted for Nigel Clough's side, who at one stage were level thanks to Sean
Gummer.
The hosts started at blistering pace and threatened Burton's goal several
times before Gall finished from close range after six minutes.
Burton, seeking one more victory to quash lingering relegation worries,
restored parity in the 17th minute courtesy of Gummer's cracking 20-yard drive.
But they were not level for long. The champions edged ahead seven minutes
later when Gall bagged his second goal, heading home Colin Pluck's cross to
regain the lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Yeovil stretched their advantage when Gavin
Williams latched onto Lee Johnson's pass and applied a delicate finish to give
his side a two-goal cushion.
After the break, hopes of a Burton fightback ended when Giles arrived to thump
a header past Matt Duke in the 71st minute.
And Gall secured his hat-trick three
inutes later with a slick finish from the edge of the area.
Gall fittingly completed the rout nine minutes from time.
