Stevenage 5-0 Farnborough
John Dreyer made the perfect start as caretaker manager of Stevenage with a comprehensive victory over Farnborough at Broadhall Way. The reserve-team boss took over at rock-bottom Borough following Wayne Turner's dismissal in midweek. First-half goals from Martin Williams, Simon Wormull and Justin Richards got his reign off to a dream start. And two second-half strikes from Richards completed his hat-trick and a memorable victory. In-form Farnborough crushed Woking 5-0 on Boxing Day but had no answer to fired-up Borough, who were eager to close the gap at the bottom of the table. After six minutes, Richards whipped over a teasing cross from the left flank which was met by Williams, who fired home from close range. Wormull then drilled home a stunning shot from 30 yards and, on the stroke of half-time, Richards scored the third goal from close range. Richards grabbed his second after 58 minutes and completed the rout with a late penalty to end Stevenage's run of three Conference defeats.
