Doncaster 5-1 Dag & Red

Doncaster boss Dave Penney collected the manager of the month award before seeing his side crush fellow promotion contenders Dagenham at Belle Vue.

Rampant Rovers produced a thrilling attacking display as goals from Andy Watson, Robert Gill, Ashley Vickers (og), Jamie Patterson and Paul Barnes moved them back to the top of the Conference table.

The deadlock was broken in the 16th minute when Dagenham failed to clear a corner and Ricky Ravenhill's speculative shot deflected into Watson's path.

He gave goalkeeper Tony Roberts little chance as he smashed the ball high into the net.

Gill, starting in the absence of Justin Jackson, hit the crossbar with a header in the 29th minute but doubled Doncaster's advantage a minute later when Watson cut the ball back for the unmarked striker to slot home.

Doncaster put the outcome beyond doubt just before the break as unfortunate defender Vickers diverted Paterson's shot past his own goalkeeper.

Vickers' game went from bad to worse in the 65th minute when he handled the ball in the area and Paterson coolly converted the resulting spot-kick.

Dagenham scored virtually from the kick-off through Danny Shipp, but normal service was resumed when Barnes smashed home a shot from the edge of the area to complete the drubbing.

Doncaster: Warrington, Marples, Foster, Ryan, Barrick, Paterson, Owen, Ravenhill, Watson, Barnes, Gill. Subs: Albrighton, Nelson, Whitman, Green, Shields.

Dag & Red: Roberts, Heffer, West, Vickers, Goodwin, Terry, Hayzelden, McGavin, Perkins, Shipp, Stein. Subs: Gothard, Rooney, Hill, Janney, McDougald.

Referee: G Turner (Chesterfield).
