Nuneaton 3-0 Stevenage
Nuneaton ended Stevenage's unbeaten record and earned their first three points of the season with a home win thanks to a hat-trick from striker Mark Quayle. Quayle opened the scoring for the home side after 32 minutes when he drilled home a powerful shot from the edge of the 18-yard area. The striker grabbed his second goal after 55 minutes when he lashed a scorching left-foot volley into the top corner of the net. Quayle clinched victory for the home side with nine minutes left when he blasted another powerful strike past visiting goalkeeper Mark Westhead. Stevenage had the better of the opening exchanges and Jamie Campbell could have got his name on the scoresheet after six minutes when he met Simon Wormull's inswinging corner. Two minutes later, another dangerous Wormull corner was met by Kirk Jackson but his goalbound header forced an excellent save from Chris MacKenzie in the home net. As the game progressed, the home side started to stamp their authority on the game and the Quayle show began.
