Morecambe 1-2 Yeovil
Substitute striker Howard Forinton snatched a come-from-behind victory for Yeovil at Morecambe. Carl Alford, who had cancelled out Iain Swan's opener for the home side, made way for Forinton in the 66th minute and five minutes later he scored. The Shrimps, who had taken four points from their opening two games, had the first chance of the game but Andy Gouck was well wide. The opening goal arrived in the 19th minute. Lee Johnson brought down Adriano Rigoglioso on the left and from the resulting free-kick, Gouck found Swan and the midfielder smashed an unstoppable shot into the top-left corner of the net. The advantage lasted just eight minutes before Yeovil equalised, Alford powering home a header from close range. This sparked a period of intense pressure from Johnson's side. Mali striker Abdoulai Demba forced a fine save from Craig Mawson with a stinging drive in the 34th minute and should have done better with a header from six yards five minutes later. Chances were at a premium in the second half with neither side able to take the initiative until Forinton's introduction. He lashed a low drive past Mawson for what proved the winning goal.
