Leigh RMI 4-2 Burton

Dino Maamria was the hat-trick hero as bottom club Leigh crushed visitors Burton Albion for their first win of the season.

Maamria scored twice in the first half and shrugged off a silly booking to complete a miserable afternoon for Nigel Clough's visitors.

Burton took the lead after 12 minutes when Stephen Evans cut in from the left and drilled home a right-foot drive.

But the advantage was short-lived as, just three minutes later, Maamria crashed home a close-range equaliser.

That was just the tonic Leigh needed and they went ahead after 20 minutes when Ged Kielty fired home from close range.

Maamria blotted his copybook when cautioned for dissent after being penalised for a foul on Evans.

But on the stroke of half-time, Maamria grabbed his second goal with a thrilling drive from the edge of the area.

He then completed his hat-trick four minutes into the second half when he converted Ian Monk's cross.

Only an excellent save by Burton's Matt Duke prevented Andy Heald from scoring a fifth goal for Leigh four minutes later.

Christian Moore pulled one back for Burton from close range with 19 minutes remaining.
