Kettering 0-3 Woking
Woking maintained their unbeaten start to the Nationwide Conference campaign with a deserved victory over Kettering at Rockingham Road. Much-travelled striker Nicky Banger broke the deadlock in the 54th minute after his side had dominated the first half. Kettering goalkeeper Ian Bowling blotted his copybook when he failed to hold onto Jon Brady's corner and Banger banged the loose ball home from the edge of the area. Woking doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Warren Patmore headed Barry Moore's cross into the back of the net from close range. It was no more than Woking deserved after missing a number of chances in the opening 45 minutes. Brady had already put a header over the crossbar before Moore twice brought fine saves from Bowling. Kettering, seeking their first win of the season after two successive draws, had to wait until the 39th minute for their first effort on goal. When it came, it needed a fanastic save from Stephen Farrelly to keep out Shaun Murray's curler. Bowling also twice denied Ben Abbey, who put a third effort wide from close range. Bowling had to pull off another top-notch save to deny Banger, who added the third goal 15 minutes from time as Woking got their just desserts in the end.
