Barnet's Ben Stevens scored a ht-trick in the first 13 minutes to send Nuneaton crashing to defeat at Manor Park.

The Barnet striker pounced for his first in the second minute with a superb 25-yard strike.

He doubled his tally two minutes later, turning in a Wayne Purser cross.

And after good work from Neil Midgley, Stevens nodded in his third, effectively ending the game as a contest.

But Boro showed their spirit and pulled one back in the 34th-minute when Warren Peyton collected a Alexander Sykes' pass before drilling the ball into the corner of the net.

Mark McGregor added a second with 13 minutes to go but Nuneaton had left themselves too much to do.

Nuneaton: Mackenzie, Cooper, Love, Angus, Thackeray, Lavery, Crowley, Peyton, Sykes, Charles, McGregor. Subs: Leadbeater, Barry Williams, Jamie Williams, Weaver, Young.

Barnet: Harrison, Gledhill, Flynn, Heald, Arber, Purser, Niven, Sawyers, Gower, Midgley, Strevens. Subs: Essandoh, Brown, Pluck, Berkley, Naisbitt.

Referee: L Mason (Bolton).
