Joff Vansittart grabbed the decisive goal as Farnborough took three points from their visit to Northwich.

The former Dover striker headed home in the 60th-minute from a superb Michael Warner cross.

The goal doubled the visitors' advantage after Barry Laker had put them in front nine minutes before half time with a shot from the edge of the area.

Steve Watson could have had another but mishit a shot from six yards.

Northwich hit back in the closing stages and got themselves back in the game when Gregg Blundell met a Mark Barnard cross with an excellent header.

Northwich pressed late on but could not find a way through and in the end were made to pay for early misses by Mark Devlin and Val Owen early.

Farnborough: Darren Bonfield, Warner, Bunce, Laker, Chris Piper, Lenny Piper, Watson, Patterson, Taggart, Vansittart, Charles. Subs: Baptiste, Benstead, Crawshaw, Harper, Holloway.
