Dover 0-1 Stevenage
E-mail your reaction to Football Talk A 69th-minute goal from Darren Hay gave Stevenage a deserved win over Conference strugglers Dover. The striker was left unmarked in the penalty area and made no mistake, clipping a low shot past Dover goalkeeper Paul Hyde. Hay had been denied a sixth-minute goal by a wonderful save from Hyde, who threw himself to his left to tip the forward's powerful strike past the post. Dover rarely threatened the visitors, who recovered after losing defender Sam Sodje to injury early on. Gary Bellamy's side had another fortunate escape when the impressive Hay fired a long-range header narrowly over the bar.
Dover: Hyde, Dorrian, Norman, Le Bihan, Vowden, Allen, Carruthers, Davies, Scott, Strouts, Leberl. Subs: Day, Shearer, Elliott, Tyne, Risbridger. Stevenage: Greygoose, Hamsher, Trott, Sodje, Dreyer, Fisher, Williams, McMahon, Campbell, Hay, Wormull. Subs: Clarke, Castle, Abbey, Wilkerson, Illman. Referee: I Woodward (Kent). |
