Leigh 6-2 Nuneaton
Leigh RMI gave a footballing lesson to Nuneaton as they turned on the style to claim a comprehensive 6-2 win at Hilton Park.

It took the hosts just five minutes to open the scoring with the first of four goals in the opening period as Dave Ridings chested the ball down in the area for Ian Monk to drill it into the top corner.

Leigh made it 2-0 after 18 minutes with a superb individual effort from Ged Kielty and six minutes later, Ridings hooked the ball home for their third goal.

Seven minutes before the break, Steve Jones arrived unmarked in the box to fire home an 18-yard volley for the fourth goal.

A late rally saw Nuneaton pull a goal back through Jamie Williams in the 71st minute before Steve Jones added a fifth for Leigh in the 87th minute.

Williams struck again for the visitors with a minute to go but a Jones penalty in stoppage time restored the four-goal cushion for Leigh.

Leigh RMI: Felgate, Spooner, Trees, Durkin, Farrell, Swan, Monk, Ridings, Kielty, Black, Jones. Subs: Morrell, Mason, Murphy, Gardner, Dootson.

Nuneaton: Mackenzie, Bacon, Love, Wayne Simpson, Barry Williams, Angus, King, Sykes, Francis, Peake, Jamie Williams. Subs: Crowley, Thackeray, Hanney, White, Young.

Referee: G Brittan (Doncaster)
