Chelsea v Arsenal ratings

Marks out of 10 for Chelsea and Arsenal in the Champions League game at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea
Marco Ambosio: Had no chance with Robert Pires' header but did not exactly inspire confidence with his handling elsewhere.
William Gallas: Allowed Ashley Cole to come into the game more and more in the second-half - and it was his cross that led to Robert Pires' goal.
Wayne Bridge: Impressed with his willingness to join the attack and rarely wasted the ball when he got it.
Marcel Desailly: Quietly efficient at the back but his late red card was the result of two rushes of blood.
John Terry: An effective defensive display was ruined when he allowed Robert Pires room to head home Arsenal's equaliser.
Scott Parker: Showed some nice touches of skill without really making an impression in the game.
Claude Makelele: Did just enough in his battle with Patrick Vieira to keep his opposite number on the back foot.
Frank Lampard: Chelsea's inspiration. He was there to lend a hand in defence and always available as support going forward.
Damien Duff: Linked up well with Wayne Bridge on the left without ever being given the opportunity to run at the Arsenal defence.
Mutu: Did not lack effort but looked slightly off the pace in his first appearance after five games out.
Eidur Gudjohnsen: His goal was his reward for chasing a lost cause - and he kept his composure to score on his first real sight of goal.
Substitutes
Joe Cole (replaced Scott Parker): Worked hard when he came on with 20 minutes left but did not get any reward.
Hernan Crespo (replaced Mutu): Hardly saw the ball during his time on the pitch and did not use it well when he did get it.
Mario Melchiot (replaced Eidur Gudjohnsen): Helped keep things tight at the back in the closing stages.
Arsenal
Jens Lehmann: His handling was not a problem - but his kicking let him down again for Chelsea's goal.
Lauren: Coped well with the dual threat of Wayne Bridge and Damien Duff down his flank and made some timely interceptions.
Ashley Cole: Untroubled at the back and began to come into the game more and more at the other end as the game went on.
Kolo Toure: Kept his composure even when Arsenal were briefly on the rack in the second-half.
Sol Campbell: Solid enough but was perhaps caught on the hop by the through-ball that led to Eidur Gudjohnsen's goal.
Freddie Ljungberg: Almost anonymous throughout and just did not see enough of the ball.
Edu: Another industrious defensive performance alongside Patrick Vieira but did not get enough opportunity to get forward.
Patrick Vieira: Just about had the upper hand in a punishing midfield battle with Claude Makelele.
Robert Pires: Tenacious in the tackle and took his headed chance brilliantly after ghosting into the area.
Dennis Bergkamp: Another who was disappointing with the ball in the final third and could not make an impact.
Thierry Henry: Starved of possession and had to come deep to find the ball with little effect.
Substitutes
Gilberto (replaced Dennis Bergkamp): Tidy in possession without ever looking like changing the game after coming on in the last 20 minutes.
Jose Antonio Reyes (replaced Freddie Ljungeberg): His pace got him in some dangerous areas but he could not take advantage.
