Group G

Roy Makaay got the winner for Deportivo la Coruna in their 2-1 victory at AC Milan.

AC Milan took the lead through Jon Dahl Tomasson but Diego Tristan levelled before Makaay's winner.

Both teams finished on 12 points but the Italian side go through as Group G winners.

Lens needed a win at Bayern Munich to stand a chance of progressing but they drew 3-3 and will now go into the Uefa Cup.

Niko Kovac and Hasan Salihamidzic put the German side two-up only for the lead to be cancelled out by a Thorsten Fink own goal and Dagui Bakari's effort.

Markus Feulner added Bayern's third with Jocelyn Blanchard late strike proving little consolation for Lens.

Group H

Gerard's goal helped Bacelona gain maximum points

Barcelona went through as Group H winners as they beat Galatasaray 3-1 to reach the second phase with a maximum of 18 points.

Dani, Gerard and Geovanni scored for the Spanish club with the result knocking Galatasaray, whose goal came form Cihan Haspolatli, out of European competition.

Lokomotiv Moscow were bottom at the start of the evening but their 2-0 win against Club Brugge lifted them into second.

Julio Cesar and Dmitry Loskov got Lokomotiv's goals with Brugge having to settle for a Uefa Cup spot.

Group E

The most thrilling match on Wednesday came in Holland as Newcastle beat Feyenoord 3-2 to go through behind Group E winners Juventus.

Newcastle went two-up through goals from Craig Bellamy and Hugo Viana but Mariano Bombarda and Anthony Lurling brought Feyenoord level.

Bellamy scored a late dramatic winner for Newcastle as they became the first team to reach the second stage after losing their first three group matches.

Dynamo Kiev took the lead through Maksim Shatskikh against Juventus but Marcelo Salas equalised.

Marcelo Zalayeta got Juve's winner as Kiev were relegated to a Uefa Cup place.

Group F

Manchester United progressed as Group E winners following a 2-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen.

Juan Sebastian Veron and Ruud van Nistelrooy both scored for the Old Trafford club against the German side.

Maccabi Haifa and Olympiakos were battling it out for a Uefa Cup place with no chance of overtaking their group rivals.

Walid Badir and Yaakubo Ayegbeni put the Israeli side ahead before Alekos Alexandris pulled one back for Olympiakos.

Yaniv Katan restored Maccabi's lead before Andreas Niniadis and Paraskevas Antzas gave the Greek club a share of the spoils.

But it was Maccabi Haifa who gained the Uefa Cup place.
