Barcelona 2-2 Galatasaray

A seconed-half brace from Javier Saviola ensured Barcelona claimed a 2-2 draw at home to a Galatasaray side that finished the game with nine men.

Barcelona could find none of the free-flowing football that had been evident in their 3-1 win at Liverpool in their opening second phase group B game.

Umit Karan was credited with heading the opening goal on five minutes, although Patrik Andersson may have supplied the final touch.

Andres Fleurquin made it 2-0 after 41 minutes as he touched in the rebound after Umit's header was saved.

The introduction of substitutes Marc Overmars and Gerard at half-time changed the game in Barcelona's favour.

Those two players added some much needed momentum to the home side.

Saviola pulled one back on 49 minutes, when he fired an Overmars ball back into the area.

And after Capone had been sent off for a late challenge on Rivaldo on 62 minutes the Argentine striker levelled the scores with a second close-range strike.

Hakan Unsal was the second Galatasaray player to be sent off as he received a second yellow card in the dying seconds.

Barcelona: Bonano, Andersson, Xavi, Saviola, Coco, Kluivert, Rivaldo, Rochemback, Christanval, Cocu, Puyol. Subs: Reina, Reiziger, de Boer, Overmars, Gerard, Gabri, Alfonso.

Galatasaray: Mondragon, Bulent, Asik, Karan, Akin, Perez, Akman, Fleurquin, Capone, Unsal, Penbe. Subs: Inan, Inceefe, Erdem, Suat, Yalcin, Victoria, Aykut.

Referee: Markus Merk (Kaiserslautern).
