Panathinaikos 0-0 FC Porto
Phase two
Group C

Porto frustrated Panathinaikos to earn a scoreless draw in their Champions League match on Wednesday.

The hosts dominated throughout with the powerful Michalis Konstantinou a constant threat.

But the Portuguese, marshalled at the back by Jorge Andrade and Ricardo Cavalho, failed to put a foot wrong under relentless pressure.

Konstantinou fired a header wide after six minutes and strike partner Emmanuel Olisadebe should have done better from close range minutes later.

Powerful header

Porto, who have never won a Champions League clash in Greece, nearly snatched the lead in the 17th minute as Deco forced a fine near-post save from Antonis Nikopolidis.

Panathinaikos continued to hunt for the opener with Olisadebe coming close with a powerful header and a left-foot shot.

And just before the hour the Nigerian-born Pole drove a right-foot effort onto the upright.

A minute later, Clayton tried his luck from out on the left for Porto, but his shot flew just wide.

The last ten minutes saw the Greeks continually attacking, but the visitors' defence kept their goal intact.

English referee Graham Poll booked four Porto players, including Capucho, who will miss the next game.

Teams:

Panathinaikos: Nikopolidis, Henriksen, Seitaridis, Sousa, Michaelsen, Kyrgiakos, Konstantinou, Basinas, Olisadebe, Karagounis, Fissas. Subs: Kotsolis, Vlaovic, Goumas, Boateng, Kolkka, Vokolos, Liberopoulos.

FC Porto: Paulo Santos, Carvalho, Paredes, Costinha, Deco, Andrade, Ibarra, Capucho, Clayton, Mario, Pena. Subs: Espinha, Esnaider, Junior, Soderstrom, Paolo, Ricardo Silva, Postiga.
