Galatasaray 1-1 Roma
Phase Two
Group B

A last minute goal from Roma's Emerson secured a 1-1 draw for the Italians against Galatasaray

The Brazilian swivelled to score from a first time strike in the 90th minute after a second half of sustained Roma pressure against the Turkish side under a chilly Istanbul drizzle.

Galatasaray had had the best of the first half and went ahead in the 22nd minute.

Defender Sebastien Perez slammed a left-footed shot into the roof of the Roma net after neat work by midfielder Ayhan Akman from a Galatasaray corner.

The goal was the first Galatasaray have conceded at their Ali Sami Yen home ground in Champions League group stages this season.

Galatasaray: Mondrago, Bulent Korkmaz, Emre, Capone, Bulent Akin, Unsal, Sergen, Perez, Ayhan, Sas, Umit.

AS Roma: Antonioll, Cafu, Lima, Aldair, Totti, Emerson, Zebina, Tommasi, Samuel, Batistuta, Candela.

Referee: Claude Colombo (France).
