Celtic's Champions League meeting with Ajax will be broadcast live from the Amsterdam Arena by BBC Scotland on both television and radio.

Rob Maclean will bring all the action from the first leg of the third qualifying round tie on BBC One Scotland on Wednesday 8 August in Sportscene.

Richard Gordon will bring every kick of the ball to Radio Scotland listeners on Sportsound on 810MW, with the match kicking off at 1945BST.

Ken MacQuarrie, BBC Scotland's head of programmes, said: "We are delighted to be able to cover the Celtic European game live on BBC One Scotland and on Radio Scotland.

"Together with our additional live coverage of six SPL matches on TV and back-to-back commentaries most Saturdays on both Radio Scotland and the internet, this is further evidence of our desire to bring the very best Scottish football action into the homes of viewers and listeners."

Programme changes

BBC Scotland also has live television and radio rights for the return match on Wednesday 22 August.

This comes on the back of live coverage and then highlights of the two recent Rangers versus Maribor matches, which helped BBC Scotland kick-off the new season.

The new season - and new kick-off times - bring a number of programme changes on both TV and radio from BBC Scotland.

Sportscene moves from its Friday evening slot to lunchtime on Saturdays, allowing the latest news and live reports from around the grounds just prior to kick-off.

It gives the fans their say in a new interactive section, a revamped results show and an evening programme combining the best of the day's action with all the football news from across Scotland.

Fans' phone-ins

Dougie Donnelly, Rob Maclean, Dougie Vipond, Richard Gordon, Chick Young, Jim Traynor and other join the team.

On Radio Scotland, Sportsound has been extended to 2000 on Saturdays to bring commentary action from early evening SPL games.

Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan will continue to kick Scottish football into touch in an hour-long Off The Ball at 1300, prior to a six-hour-long Saturday Sportsound.

The duo will re-appear in their Off the Ball phone-in roles on Wednesday evenings between 2210 and 2300.

Meanwhile, fans also get another chance to air their views to Your Call, which now has a regular slot on Thursday evenings between 2210 and 2300.
