All the action from Bayern Munich's tense 5-4 penalties victory over Valencia at the San Siro stadium in Milan.

2 mins: 1-0 Valencia: Valencia take the lead when referee Dick Jol awards them a penalty when Patrick Andersson is adjudged to have handled.

Gaizko Mendieta buries the resulting spot kick past Oliver Kahn into the bottom left corner.

6 mins: Santiago Canizares is Valencia's hero as he saves Mehmet Scholl's penalty after Steffen Effenberg is brought down in the box by Jocelyn Angloma.

9 mins: Angloma clears the danger as Effenberg attempts to carve open the Valencia defence.

11 mins: Thomas Linke's shot is blocked in the box as Valencia struggle to clear the ball from a Bayern corner.

13 mins: Bixente Lizararu blazes his shot over the bar as Bayern press forward in search of the equaliser.

87 mins: Zahovic wastes a good opportunity when he decides to shoot instead of cross with three men waiting in the box.

88 mins: Miroslav Djukic comes on for the injured Ayala in the dying minutes of normal time.

90 mins: Three minutes of extra time are added on by the fourth official.

92 mins: Jancker's powerful 20-yard strike goes wide of Canziares' left post after Mendieta is robbed in midfield.

93 mins: Referee Jol blows up for full-time, signalling 30 minutes of extra time, where the golden goals rules comes into effect.

95 minutes: Bayern come perilously close to the winner when Elber's instinctive shot is saved by Canizares, who needed two attempts to gather the ball cleanly.

98 mins: Scholl, desperate to make up his earlier missed spot kick, curls his 25-yard free-kick past Canizares' right hand post.

100 mins: Scholl dissects the Valencia defence to find Salihamidzic, whose angled shot is gathered by Canizares - just.

101 mins: Zahovic's snapshot is saved by Kahn after he gathered smartly on his chest from a deep cross.

102 mins: Elber is taken off in favour of German international Alexander Zickler.

107 mins: Despite the constant Bayern pressure, the resolute Valencia defence clear everything the Germans create.

110 mins: Gonazlez is booked for diving as he tries to get a free-kick right on the Bayern box.

119 mins: The sprightly Sergio causes problems in the Valencia box and his cross is cleared for a corner by Mauricio Pellegrino.

120 mins: Carew's header flashes wide of Kahn's post from a pacey Mendieta centre.

Referee Jol blows his whistle to signify the end of the 30 minutes - and the start of the penalty shoot-out.

Penalty 1: Paolo Sergio blazes over the bar. Miss (0-0)

Penalty 2: Mendieta does not make the same mistake and sends the keeper the wrong way. Score (0-1)

Penalty 3: Salihamidzic puts Bayern level with a confident penalty. Score (1-1)

Penalty 4: Carew, like Mendieta, sends Kahn the wrong way, coolly finishing into the bottom corner. Score (1-2)

Penalty 5: Zickler buries his kick into the top right corner. Score (2-2)

Penalty 6: A Fantastic save from Kahn denies Zahovic to level the scores. Miss (2-2)

Penalty 7: Canizares comes to his side's rescue to smoother Andersson's penalty. Miss (2-2)

Penalty 8: Kahn palms Carbone's penalty onto the cross bar for a magnificent save to keep his side in the final. Miss (2-2)

Penalty 9: Effenberg buries his effort into the top corner for the lead. Score (3-2)

Penalty 10: Barraja keeps his side in the game as he nets his kick. Score (3-3)

Penalty 11: Lizarazu whacks his penalty into the back of the net for the lead. Score (4-3)

Penalty 12: Gonazlez hits the perfect penalty into the corner and keeps Valencia in the hunt. Score (4-4)

Penalty 13: Linke sends Canizares the wrong way to score. Score (5-4)

Penalty 14: Kahn finally seals the victory when he saves Pellegrino's penalty and is immediately mobbed by his jubilant team-mates. Miss (5-4)
