Tunisia's coach resigns
Henri Michel relieving the tension
Henri Michel has enjoyed little success with Tunisia
Henri Michel has quit his job as coach of Tunisia.

He decided to resign on Monday, according to reports, but was not immediately available for comment.

  Michel's record
1947: Born 29/10 in France
1973/77/80: Wins French titles with Nantes
1978: Plays in World Cup
1984: Coaches France's to Olympic gold
1994: Coaches Cameroon at USA '94
1998: Takes Morocco to France '98
2001: Appointed Tunisia coach.

Michel told the Tunisian FA that he could not accept the conditions he was being forced to work under.

Last week Albert Rust, Henri Michel's French coaching assistant, was sacked by Tunisia's football authorities.

No reason was give for his dismissal.

FA president Aboulhassen Fekih said he would call a news conference on Tuesday to explain Michel's departure.

Dire performance

In the meantime, new appointees Ammar Souayah and Kemaies Labidi are taking charge of team affairs.

They were appointed last week in place of Frenchman Rust.

Tunisia made a first round exit from the 2002 Nations Cup

The duo will prepare the team for Wednesday's World Cup warm-up against Norway in Tunis.

Since qualifying for the World Cup, Tunisia have been massively disappointing.

They failed to score a single goal at the Nations Cup, and were knocked out in the first round.

In a recent friendly against World Cup co-hosts, South Korea, they were held to a dull 0-0 draw.

Tunisia are drawn in a World Cup Group H with co-hosts Japan, Belgium and Russia.
