Togo sneak past Mauritania
Togo
Togo were dominant throughout
Group 5: Togo 1-0 Mauritania

A single goal from Emmanuel Adabyo Sheyi was enough to see Togo's Hawks take all three points and leave Mauritania marooned at the bottom of Group 5.

Sheyi got the goal midway through the first half.

As Togo pressed forwards, Mauritania were unable to clear properly and an untidy goalmouth scramble ensued.

Sheyi reacted quickest and bundled the ball home.

It was little surprise, as Mauritania's defence often looked in disarray against the sharp Togo attack.

And though Togo were cruising from that point on, they were unable to increase their lead.

They had a chance to wrap it up late on after more clumsy Mauritania defending brought down a Togo attack illegally.

Coubabja Kaber stepped up to take the resultant penalty, but missed.

It did not cost Togo too badly though - they were able to hang for the win that puts them level in second place with Cape Verde.
