Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel are out of the Confed Cup

The Confederation Cup trophy
Kaduna United are through to the next round of the Confederation Cup

African football's governing body, Caf, has ruled that Nigeria's Kaduna United have qualified for the final knockout stage of the Confederation Cup.

Caf made the ruling after Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel refused to travel to Nigeria last weekend for their first leg of their third round tie, citing security fears.

However Caf added that any issues related to the match will be discussed during its Interclubs committee meeting on 14 May in Cairo.

The former African Champions League winners were scheduled to play Kaduna United on Sunday but cancelled their trip to Nigeria because of the violence that followed the presidential elections.

With Kaduna at the centre of post-election violence, which saw several deaths, the game was moved from Kaduna to Abeokuta.

Despite the change of venue Etoile cancelled their trip after they received a report from the Tunisian embassy in Nigeria advising them against travelling to the west African country.

Kaduna will now play a losing side from the Champions League for a place in the group stages of the Confederation Cup.
