Ivorian Olympic qualifier delayed

Pro-Gbagbo militiamen on the streets of Abidjan
Fighting on Abidjan's streets has made it difficult for the Olympic team to fly

The second leg of Ivory Coast's Olympic Games qualifier against Liberia has been postponed.

The first round tie was scheduled to be played in the Liberian capital Monrovia on Sunday 10 April.

However, the escalating conflict in Ivory Coast has made it difficult for the Olympic Elephants to leave Abidjan.

The match, which the Ivorians lead 4-0 after the first leg was played in neutral Ghana, will now take place on Wednesday 20 April.

Fighting in Ivory Coast has intensified in recent days between forces loyal to Laurent Gbagbo and his rival Alassane Ouattara.

Gbagbo is still clinging to power, even though the United Nations says he lost last year's election to Ouattara.
