Goran Stevanovic has been named as successor to fellow Serb Milovan Rajevac as Ghana coach.

Stevanovic, 44, was appointed after reaching a deal on contract terms with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

"The Ghana Football Association has appointed a new coach for the Black Stars. He is in the person of Goran Stevanovic," a GFA statement read.

"We have successfully negotiated with the coach and he would replace his compatriot, Milovan Rajevac."

Former Partizan Belgrade coach Stevanovic will be officially unveiled as the coach of the Black Stars at a ceremony in Accra on Wednesday.

His first competitive game in charge will be the trip to Brazzaville to play Congo in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier in March.

Stevanovic takes over from Rajevac who opted not to extend his contract when it expired in September.

Rajevac ended a two-year stint during which he steered Ghana to the final of the 2010 African Cup of Nations and the last eight of the World Cup in South Africa.
