Botswana beat Togo to remain top

Action from Botswana's win over Tunisia
The Zebras followed up their win over Tunisia with another upset

Botswana moved closer to their first-ever appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-1 win over Togo in a 2012 qualifier in Gaborone.

This comes after opponents Tunisia dropped points at home after being held to a 2-2 draw by Malawi in Rhades.

Winger Joel Mogorosi put Botswana ahead in the fifth minute at the University of Botswana stadium.

Togo's Serge Fiakpe equalised in the 50th minute, before the home side's equaliser by Jerome Ramatlhakwane.

The result sees Botswana stay top of Group K with 10 points from four games while Tunisia stay second with four points.

"I am very happy [with the result]," Zebras' coach Stanley Tshosane said.

"I have no words to describe my joy."

Botswana's quest to qualify for the continental tournament was boosted after Tunisia were held by the less-fancied Malawi.

Striker Issam Jemaa put the home side into a 2-0 lead after opening score in 11th minute and adding another 15 minutes later.

But a strike from Chiukepo Msowoya and a late penalty converted by Esau Kanyenda restored parity.

Malawi will host Chad in their next game in October while Tunisia travel to face Togo in the five-team group.
