Nigeria's Falconets beaten in Under-20 World Cup final

Nigeria's under-20 team
The Falconets could not beat a very talented German team

Nigeria's Under-20 Women's team have failed in their quest to win the World Cup in Germany.

An early goal in the first half and a late one in the second saw the hosts beat The Falconets 2-0.

Alexandra Popp held off two Nigerian defenders to shoot past Nigeria goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan for the first goal in the eighth minute.

Midfielder Kim Kulig scored their second deep into injury time.

The Falconets were very spirited in their play but were unable to recover from Germany's early goal.

Germany have now won the trophy for the second time having won it before in Thailand in 2004 and become the first country to win it on home soil.

Nigeria are the first African team to make it to the final of the Under-20 Women's World Cup.
