French coach Michel Sorin named Benin caretaker coach

Former Benin coach Michel Dussuyer

Michel Sorin has been named as caretaker coach of Benin.

He takes over from Michel Dussuyer, who was sacked along with the rest of his coaching and playing staff last week.

The Frenchman will combine his new role with his current job as manager of Benin club side Requins de l'Atlantique until the end of June.

Sorin will set up a new national team before a new full-time coach is recruited for 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The country's football authorities cited indiscipline and lack of patriotism during the Nations Cup in Angola as the reason for dissolving the national team set-up.

Benin failed to progress out of the group stages at last month's Nations Cup.

They finished third in Group C with just a solitary point, going down to Egypt and Nigeria and drawing against Mozambique.
