Cameroon coach Paul Le Guen has named as strong squad for Angola

Cameroon's French coach Paul Le Guen has named a strong squad for January's Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

However there is no place in the squad for Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong.

The tournament's record goal scorer Samuel Eto'o from Italy's Inter Milan will be looking to add to his 16 strikes at his sixth Nations Cup.

The Indomitable Lions begin their Group D games against Gabon on 13 January before facing Zambia and Tunisia.

Rigobert Song will enter the record books in Angola as he will playing at his eighth Nations Cup.

The squad will train in the Kenyan capital Nairobi from 5 January before heading to Angola on 11 January.

There are two first time call-ups for defender Joel Matip of German club Schalke 04, and Goalkeeper Ndy Assembe of French club Valencienne.

Seven of the squad will be making their Africa Cup of Nations debut.

Cameroon, who have qualified for their sixth World Cup, are looking for their fourth continental title and hoping to go one step further than two years ago when they lost 1-0 to Egypt in the final in Ghana.
