Ivory Coast finish unbeaten

Gervinho scores a brace to help Ivory Coast maintain an unbeaten record

Ivory Coast maintain their unbeaten run in World Cup qualifying by defeating Guinea 3-nil in Abidjan.

Meanwhile Malawi qualify for only their second Africa Cup of Nations despite losing 1-0 to Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.

Gervinho scored twice in the first half for Ivory Coast and Siaka Tiene got their third.

For Guinea the defeat means they miss out on a place at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Malawi are the beneficiaries as they go through to only their second appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

They qualify despite losing one-0 to Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou.

Moumouni Dagano scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time.

Ivory Coast will be making their second appearance at the World Cup finals.

They qualified in 2002 but were unable to qualify for the second round They were unable to qualify for the second round after losing to more experienced teams such as Argentina and the Netherlands.
